Marcus Stoinis of LSG blasted a boundary to earn a six-wicket win over CSK in the IPL 2024, finishing in the same style as MS Dhoni.
More than 400 runs were made at the MA Chidambaram Stadium on Tuesday, and Marcus Stoinis of Australia was the last man standing. Stoinis, who silenced the packed Chepauk with his counterattacking innings, smashed his maiden Indian Premier League century to save KL Rahul's Lucknow Super Giants in the high-scoring thriller against Chennai Super Kings. Stoinis, like MS Dhoni, blasted a boundary to complete a six-wicket victory over the defending champions in match No.39 of the IPL 2024.
Reacting to Stoinis' heroics during LSG's spectacular victory over CSK, the Lucknow Super Giants mentioned another 'MS' who capped things off in style at Chepauk. LSG took to social media to compliment the Australian all-rounder, posting a video of Stoinis gushing about Dhoni. Stoinis praised the former CSK captain and discussed Dhoni's ethos of winning important fights in run chases.

"MS Dhoni said one thing to me. He added that in important games, everyone expects me to go above and beyond. I have to try something different. His slogan and way of speaking to himself is to stay there, stand motionless, and claim that everyone else will change. "I'm going to be the only one here who doesn't change, and that will put him ahead of everyone else," Stoinis recalled.
Chasing a massive score of 210 at Chepauk, KL Rahul's LSG were reduced to 88-3 after 10.6 overs. Stoinis startled Chepauk with his first IPL century, bringing the CSK bowlers to their knees. Stoinis' lone warrior performance shattered many records, leaving the LSG batsman unbeaten on 124 off 63 balls. Stoinis, who batted at a strike rate of more than 196, hit six sixes and 13 fours in his match-winning innings. The Australian hitter has the highest individual score against CSK in the IPL.
"It wasn't just go go go; there were some bowlers we wanted to target and others we wanted to be cautious of. There was a period where I couldn't hit the boundaries, so it was fantastic that Pooran could step in and take the pressure off. Lots of ebbs and flows; simply tried to keep it under control. You're planning and structuring; you don't like some bowlers and prefer others," Stoinis said after the match.
